Just Laugh

Well, I said in an earlier post that I was a layout-making fool this past week.  Here's another one I finished the other day.  I've had this handful of pictures that I didn't know what to do with.  It's photos of my Mom and I at the Georgia Renaissance Festival a few years ago doing our usual goofing off, joking around, and constantly smiling and laughing.  That's us.  We get along like two kids and we're always picking on each other and laughing our butts off.  Plus, it's great when you get to "that age" where your mom can't/won't ground you anymore;)  Or at least if she does ground me, I'll get sent to our scraproom...oh, no!  That's like sending a little kid to Disney;)

I used Basic Grey  Lemonade that I got from the clearance rack at Hobby Lobby.  What can I say?  I'm a paper hoarder in every sense of the term and a bargain hunter to boot.  How can you turn down an entire pack of BG for $6.83?  I stamped "Just" on the little flower tags and tied them to some puffy pink tulle.  The "Laugh" banner is attached together with pink ricrac.  It's a really cute, kinda silly layout just like me & mom.

Also, while I was trying to figure out what the heck to do with this pictures, I found a sketch challenge blog and it just so happened the sketch was perfect my pics!

And now I'm stuck like glue to Stuck On U Sketches!  They have some fantastic sketches and an awesome design team.  It's amazing how many different ways this sketch can be translated.  This is my first time playing along with them over at Stuck On U, but it won't be my last.

Mint Chocolate Chip Color Challenge

I want to share a card I made for the Crafting When We Can Challenge Blog.  It's a color combo challenge of mint green and brown.  Don't ask me why, but that just screamed vintage baby card to me.  I don't understand it either.  That's just how my brain works;)

For this card, I used a Card Patterns Sketch #169.  For the vintage baby carriage, I found a free digi online.  I changed the color in Photoshop Elements from black to brown so it would match my color scheme.  And I even used one of my Anna Griffin bows that I bought like 8 years ago when I first started scrapping and would never use it because it was too pretty;)  I'm really happy with the way the card turned out.

Card Patterns 168 & 2 Sisters Challenge 94

I hope I don't bore most of my readers with all these challenges.  I've just been struggling in my crafting lately, either no time or no creativity.  I've been trying to jumpstart things, and I think I'm back on the right track.  The challenges are keeping me motivated to get stuff done in a timely manner.  I work really good with deadlines.  I was a freelance court reporter for about 12 years and deadlines are critical.  Although I loved my job, I can do without the stress;)

I made a very vintage card for a friend's mom.  I love toile patterns.  I have black & white toile curtains in my scraproom.  You can see a peek of them in an earlier post about the new punch rack.  Anyway, I also have a few toile stamps.  I decided it might be fun to color in the toile images.  I used watercolor pencils and SU watercolor crayons.  This is a close-up of my image...

And here is the front of my card and the Card Patterns Sketch:

The background paper I used is Anna Griffin.  The cardstock is DCWV.  The mini roses are Recollections from Michaels.  The "Happy Birthday" stamp is from Justrite Stamps.  I used the SU word window and modern label punches.  I also added some bling, also Recollections from Michaels.  The crinkled seam binding is from my stash.  I purchased it during CKC Nashville 2012.  The toile stamp is All Night Media.

And here is the inside of my card:

For the inside, I used the same Anna Griffin paper as I used on the front.  The verse is Stampin Up, the Happy Birthday is Justrite Stamps.  the card verse diecut was made using SU/Sizzix Framelits and Spellbinders dies for the corners.   I also used bling by Recollections.  The ink is CTMH Vineyard Berry.

The second challenge I'm entering this card in is the 2 Sisters Challenge Blog.  Their current challenge is "Inside & Out."  I normally don't decorate the insides of my cards, but lately I've been trying to make the inside as pretty as the outside, so I thought this challenge was a must!

Girly-Girl Chic Cards

Hi Everyone! I can't speak for you ladies, but I truly enjoyed our card class & crop on the 2nd. Thanks so much to all of you who attended. It's really a positive and inspiring group of scrappers. I look forward to seeing you guys again next month, as well as some new faces too! I've been playing catch-up this week on some Easter projects and cards. I've also been working on a birthday card for my Dad which I'll need in early May. I've also been putting much thought into next month's card class and what kind of scrappy, sassy awesomeness I can share with the attendees and my blog followers. I'm definitely going to be putting some effort into masculine cards for Father's Day. I always find them to be a real challenge. It's not like flowers and sparkles work on a card for Dear Ol' Dad. But they certainly work on these super cute girly-girl cards I wanted to share with you.

If the shoe fits...

This card was made by my mom, Joan. She's been on a bold & bright kick lately. I think she's been trying to chase away the gloom of winter;) She used flocked zebra paper and black grosgrain ribbon for texture. For sparkle, she used various colors of Stickles. The shoes are available for download at the Silhouette site. The "Hey Girlfriend" tag is from Lettering Delights and is part of the Delilah Tags collection.

I made this card and "handbag" set for a friend. The little purse is perfect for some devilishly good chocolate or a giftcard to a fave shop. The purse is from the Cricut cartridge Tags, Bags, Boxes & More and the little monogram is from the Jasmine cartridge. {Yes, even though I'm boycotting PC, I still find myself using my old cartridges.} The paper for this project is the Anna Griffin Peyton collection. I wish they would keep making this one forever. I don't think I'll ever tire of it. This card was made using the Peyton collection as well. I added a lot of bling, including a special CTMH giveaway from sometime last year. It was a set of three bling shapes, a bracket, a square, and a circle. I have to admit that as much as I liked them, I was a bit intimidated by them. I finally got my nerve up to use them and I adore the outcome. So here's a challenge for you, dear readers... Go through your stash and find one product that you like/love but are intimidated by. That even includes "the pretty paper." I challenge you to dance beyond your comfort zone and try something new.
