Santa Claus Is Coming To Town!

Welcome to the Studio! Thanks so much for stopping by. I am the featured designer today on the Card A Day Blog, and the theme this week is Children & Christmas. When I was a child, one of the highlights of this wonderful season was going to the Lake Forest Mall (New Orleans, La.) and seeing Santa. My mom would dress me up in some adorable outfit, many that she sewed herself, and get my picture taken with Santa. So with thoughts of Santa, warm cookies, and cold milk, here is my card...

The card design is from a sketch, MFTWSC42, by My Favorite Things. Santa himself was stamped with Versamark and heat embossed with detail black embossing powder on watercolor paper (from the art department). I used a set of watercolor pencils that I've had for ages and colored my Santa. Having the heat embossed image helps your color stay inside the lines. I added just a minimal amount of color and shading with the pencils and then went over it with a water brush. The stamp I used is from Mark's Finest Papers. The company has been sold recently and I don't know if they still carry this stamp set. The papers I used are from a Recollections Christmas pad that I found on sale for $9.99. I also used Stampin Up Cherry Cobbler cardstock and CTMH Pear cardstock. For the aqua blue tab, I used a Stampin Up decorative label punch and DCWV mat stack. "Happy Holidays" is from the same set as Santa and it's stamped in CTMH black ink. For my card base, I used the white pre-made card blanks and envelopes for sale at Hobby Lobby and Micheal's. I added a bit of red and white twine and a button just for fun.

And I couldn't make just one...

This time I stamped Santa with Staz-on in jet black on watercolor paper. It worked just as well as heat embossing, but I had to be more careful about staying inside the lines;)

I hope you enjoyed your visit. Until next time, Scrap Sassy!
