Believe in Hope

Welcome to the Studio!

So glad you stopped by.  The Link Up For Pink Linky Party is still going on, so be sure to hop over there and see all the wonderful cards and projects and leave some love.  But, if you want a chance to win some fabby prizes, you have to link your pink card up.  It's easy and fun!

My card for today is still in the vintage, shabby chic vein.  I'm just so totally loving that style right now!  And since it's for LUFP, it's got to have a lot of pink.

I wanted a different style of embellishment, so I decided to make my own.  For the feathers, I used a small circle punch and put Aleene's Tacky Glue on it and stuck my feathers to the top half of the circle.  The beige feathers were actually cut from a larger feather.  It was too big to fit on my card;)  After I had them all stuck down, I added a bit more tacky glue and then folded the circle in half and kind of sandwiched all the feathers so they wouldn't slip out.  I then added a glue dot to the paper half circle and tucked it behind by two-colored quadruple bow along with some pretty little stickpins.  The pearl and rhinestone one I made myself from my bead/pin stash.  The awareness ribbon pin is from my friend Yolie, our fearless leader at Link Up For Pink.  I wanted it to have a bit more wow factor, so I used Liquid Pearls on it.  I'm totally tickled pink with the way my card turned out;)

The inside of my card is very simple, but has a strong sentiment.  For those of you who are fighting this battle, all our prayers, love, and hugs are with you.  Be Strong!  You're not alone!

We All Need Hope

Welcome to the Studio!

It's been ages since I've been able to create and I'm excited to say that I've finally had the opportunity...and just in time for Link Up For Pink Challenge 16!  The scraproom kind of became a makeshift holding tank for two trailer loads of stuff in the last few weeks of "THE MOVE," which I'm happy to say in finally OVER!  After adding some shelving and lots of organizing, the scraproom is finally usable.  Mom still can't find everything.  I'll be starting on the drawer and basket labeling next;)

Our sponsor for this challenge is Sherri Baldy.  I just love, love, love her awesome images.  Here is my card using Image 707 from her shop.

I decided to paper piece this little cutie.  I wanted the denim look and I'm so not that talented with Copics.  I did the rest of her with watercolor pencils and a blending pen.  I followed an old sketch I found buried on my iPad from My Mind's Eye and it just so happens the pattern paper is MME as well.  The cardstock and the bracket label is Stampin Up.  "Denim Hope" is printed on watercolor paper. The denim paper and the burlap border is from The Paper Studio/Hobby Lobby.  {I finally went shopping at "The Lob" for the first time in months.  They have a ton of cool, new items...like burlap borders and flowers!}  The button and floss is from my stash.  The "Hope" stamp is from Justrite Stamps.  The frilly ribbon is from Really Reasonable Ribbon.  The awareness ribbon punch is from EK Success.  The pink rose is Recollections/Michaels hit with a little of my own Sassy Shimmer Spritz in La Vie En Rose.  The itty, bitty rhinestones are from CTMH.

Now for the fun stuff...
Be sure to enter Challenge 16.  The rules are simple...make it pink!  There will be two winners and each will receive five digis...Woo Hoo!  If I won, I don't know how I'd possibly be able to pick out only five favorites.  The winners will have their work cut out for them.  I look forward to seeing all your beautiful creations!

Link Up For Pink Challenge 9

Welcome to the Studio!

It's an exciting day here.  It's my debut on the Link Up For Pink Design Team.  For Challenge 9, there is a photo inspiration as well as stamps from our awesome sponsor, The Stamps Of Life.

Here is the inspiration photo to use in this challenge:

And here's my vision...

For the card above, I used a pre-made ivory card base.  The size is approximately 5x6.5.  The patterned paper is from Mind Mind's Eye, The Sweetest Thing - Honey Collection.  It's such awesome shabby goodness!  I used Primrose Petals cardstock from Stampin Up and a cute flowery border punch from EK Success.  I also used Primrose Petals, Summer Starfruit, and Basic Black inks.  The seam binding is also Stampin Up.  The flowers are from Michael's.  I stamped Philippians 4:13 - I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me - in Basic Black ink on vellum.  The stamp is from one of the many awesome sets from our friends over at Stamps of Life.

Now here's the good part...
Would you like a Stamps of Life 4x6 stamp set of your very own?  All you have to do is play along with us during Challenge 9.  Create something crafty using the inspiration photo above, then hop over to the Link Up For Pink Blog and link up!  I look forward to seeing everyone's creations.

And for those who are still fighting the battle against breast cancer, our hearts and prayers are with each and every one of you!

Until next time, Scrap Sassy!

Cards We Hate To Make

Welcome to the Studio!

Yes, there are cards we hate to make sometimes...Sympathy cards.  They always signify such a sad time and even more so when the one who has passed was young and still have so much living ahead of them.  But these cards must be done.  I prefer to keep all my sympathy cards clean and simple and without much bling or brightness.  I found a sketch on Retro Sketches that had a nice, clean design.  I used some dark, vintage papers and ended up with a lovely card, or at least as lovely as a sympathy card can be.

I did a bit of paper piercing along the scalloped border.  I thought the card needed a little something extra and that did the trick.

And for the inside...

My Supply List:
Cardstock:  black textured, Recollections
Pattern Paper:  My Mind's Eye, Lost & Found 2 - Sunshine
Stamps:  "With Sympathy" Justrite Stampers; Comfort of God's Love, Stampabilities;
               Four Frames, Stampin Up
Die:  SU/Sizzix Edgelits, Adorning Accents
Punch:  Bracket Frame, SU
Seam Binding:  from stash
Other:  Paper Piercing Pack Essentials, Stampin Up

Thanks for stopping by.  Until next time, Scrap Sassy!

Mojo Monday 242...Bon Voyage

Welcome to the Studio!

Yay!  I finally had some time to scrap and blog!  Sorry I've been AFK for several weeks, but I'm back on top of things again...at least I think so;)

I love sketch challenges and like to play along every chance I get.  I have to admit though that most of my "challenge cards" get done in plenty of time, but I can never get my rear in gear and get them photographed and up on my blog.

I had some friends leaving to go on a cruise and thought an island-inspired Bon Voyage card would set the perfect mood.  I can't wait to work on the cruise scrapbook in July with Julia, aka The Scrap Queen.

Here is Mojo Monday Sketch 242:

And here is the picture of my card:

I used the new My Mind's Eye Indie Chic "Citron" for this card.  The colors remind me of sand, surf, and fruity drinks with umbrellas.  Hope you enjoy!

Until next time, Scrap Sassy!

Thinking of You…In Yellow & Blue

Welcome to the Studio!

If you’re visiting from the Card A Day Blog, thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you come back again soon. If you haven’t been to the Card A Day Blog, please stop by over there. There are a bunch of talented designers who can’t wait to share their ideas and techniques
with you.

The theme for the week is: Thinking of You. It’s nice to let someone know that they’ve been on your mind. It can make a person feel special, loved, or in times of strife, make them feel like they are not alone. Here’s a clean and simple card based on Mojo Monday Sketch #233.

And here's my card...

This card is 6.5x5. The base is out of one of those value packs of card blanks from the chain craft stores. The pattern paper is MME Lush collection in navy. The yellow polka dot is from Echo
Park, Dots & Stripes collection. The two blue panels are cut at 3x4.75. The center piece is cut at
5x3.5. I used a Martha Stewart border punch for the strip on the side. I then stamped my sentiment tag in CTMH Outdoor Denim. The stamp is Stampin Up, Four Frames. I then used SU Teeny Tiny Wishes and Lucky Limeade to stamp “Thinking of You.” The flower is several layers. The navy blue flowers are misc. silk flowers and the green flower is from Prima. The
yellow rhinestone brad in the center is from Making Memories.

I had so much fun with this sketch that I decided to make another card. I love the Wisteria Wonder color from Stampin Up and thought I’d make a lavender birthday card. I love the wisteria and the yellow together. The flower I made used Spellbinders dies and Heartfelt Creations Innoscents stamp.

Cupid Incoming!!!

Welcome to the Studio!
If you’re visiting from the Card A Day Blog, thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you come back again soon. If you haven’t been to the Card A Day Blog, please stop by over there. We have a whole host of designers who are happy to share their ideas and techniques with you.

The theme for the week is, of course, Valentine’s Day. And I was still in a vintage, shabby chic sort of mood…

I just used an ivory card blank from one of the craft stores. The patterned paper is from My Minds Eye Lost & Found collection. This is from the 6x6 paper pack. The designs are scaled down and perfect for cards (and less expensive). I used Stampin Up Cherry Cobbler seam binding. I just LOVE seam binding and I’ve got a new tool (peg bow maker) to help me tie pretty bows. My cherub is a stamp from LaBlanche Stamps. They are a newer stamp company and their stamps are mounted on foam blocks, which makes them extremely lightweight. Also, instead of the usual red rubber or acrylic, the stamp itself is made of a white silicone material. The images are very detailed and exquisite. I stamped my image on SU crumb cake cardstock with CTMH black ink. I used a distressing tool to ruff up the edges and inked them with CTMH chocolate ink. I then gave it a quick coating of Sassy Shimmer Spritz (my studio-made glimmer spray) and then I squished it into a little ball to get all the creases and stuff. I used a Martha border punch for a little extra on the black mat. I made a stickpin and added a piece of black feather for fun. The “Amour” tag at the bottom is a strategically punched piece of patterned paper with an SU punch and stamped with the sentiment, also from SU.

My Supply List:
Cardstock: card base, store bought
Patterned paper: MME, Lost & Found
Stamps: LaBlanche, Stampin Up
Ink: Chocolate, Black from CTMH
Punches: Stampin Up and Martha Stewart
Ribbon: Cherry Cobbler seam binding, Stampin Up
Stickpin: Made in the studio
Adhesive: ATG Gun, in pink {Blitsy.com has some great deals!}

Thanks for stopping by. Until next time, Scrap Sassy!
