Welcome to the Studio!
I made a beautiful baby boy card recently (which I'll be able to share soon), and I still had all this lovely (and old) Anna Griffin toile paper on my scrap desk. I decided to make a similar card and use up some of these gorgeous scraps as well as some embies that I didn't use on the baby card.
I don't know if any of you do this when you create, but I pick my papers and then go around my scraproom like a crazy lady digging through jars of flowers, rooting through drawers and baskets, and generally making a huge pile on my desk of all the items I "collected" and then I start on my project...with like no room at all to work;) And putting all the stuff I use away is a booger, so a lot of times, I end up making a few "matching" cards. I like doing that after I finish a layout especially, because I usually only have enough scraps left for a few cards anyway and it makes cleaning up easier.
Okay, enough about me. Here's the card I created with my "leftovers."
I was going for a very shabby chic look, so I distressed ALL the edges with ink and even used my handy-dandy Prima distressing tool. I have tried several distressing tools in the past, but this one by far is my fave. And yep, it looks just like my Grandma Julie's foot file that used to sit on the shelf in her bathroom. Same color too;)
I used it at a Prima class that I took while at CKC-Nashville a few years ago and loved it! I ordered one as soon as I got back home!
Do you ever buy stuff just because all your friends are buying it and think it's great? I'm so guilty of that! I used a few of those things on this card that I just HAD TO HAVE. One is chipboard. I must have two white cubes from Michaels filled to overflowing with chipboard of every imaginable size, shape, color, texture. The one I used here was from a package I received in a goodie bag at a weekend retreat in February. Another one of those "Had to Have" items was Tim Holtz Distressing Stains. I used them both on the chipboard piece and as well as the newsprint pattern paper to "shab them up a bit." I also used the sanding tool and the metal brush on the chipboard to uncover portions of the pattern embossed on it. I love the burlap flowers! Those are new to my stash and this is the first time I've used them.
I'll be entering this card in several challenges...
